Hi Jonny, Spent the morning catching up on your blog. It was an interesting view of your life. It reminded me that I spent the evening before with a diary of my sister, Vicki. She chronicled 1956, her 15th-16th year in some detail. It was interesting to see her view of that pivotal year for her. It was the year that our grandfather died, the first time we had to deal with family loss. Anyway, you are mentioned several times.

Anyway, on the aspirin, a new study has shown that there is no benefit to taking small doses of aspirin daily unless you have a condition that would benefit from blood thinning. My doctor said that he had quit taking aspirin.

The story about your neighbor’s invitation to dinner disturbed me a bit. I do wish you weren’t so isolated. Although I should talk. I have been so disillusioned with “friends” here. My one friend in Mineral Wells is dying. Very sad.

I have finished a new short story. Am very pleased with it. May begin a series. It takes place 50-75 years from now in the “Pacific Patch.” Ever heard of it?

    All best,
    Gerald

Hi Gerald, thanks for your concern about isolation but don’t worry. We are always connected in spite of physical separation. Are you tempted to jump in and start a blog of your own, since you like to write?

Everyday, think as you wake up: Today I am fortunate to have woken up. I am alive. I have a precious human life. I am not going to waste it. I am going to use all my energies to develop myself to expand my heart out to others for the benefit of all beings.

Today I will be a photographer for 4 women who are in training to walk 41 miles for a cause they are passionate about. I am in charge of publicity so I am going to try and capture an image of the commitment they have made to help some families in need. We are trying to raise over a million dollars to build a Women’s Shelter in Kendall County. So far we are getting close to enough $’s to break ground. They will walk from Boerne to Comfort to Sisterdale and back to Boerne on New Year’s Day beginning at 12:01am and
they expect to complete the walk from the dark to the light in 16 hours. When I choose a charity to work for it always involves animals or children who I believe need advocates. 1 in 4 women are affected by domestic abuse and 70% of the children in those homes are directly affected. I feel I have been blessed and I am taking the Dalai Lamas’ advice today! If you would like to help us with this cause we are asking over 39,000 people to contribute $41 (a dollar for each mile the 4 women are walking on New Year’s Day). The website has a paypal account to accept donations: http://www.kendallwomensshelter.com

In the meantime….Happy Holidays and thank you for another venue to find more helpers!
